Completely in the-Canal, (CIC) Hearing Aid
Completely-in-the-Canal hearing aids (CIC) are very popular among those whose goal is near-complete invisibility.
With recent advances in circuit miniaturization technology, it is now possible to make a hearing aid powerful enough for a severe hearing loss in a CIC style, allowing even those with significant hearing impairment to wear hearing aids that almost nobody will notice. Depending on the size of your ear canal, there are even some manufacturers that are able to fit a wireless antenna in a CIC device, allowing for Bluetooth streaming and remote control function. If wireless is not an option, a program button can be installed on the faceplate. With the small size, however, comes a small battery and some loss of battery life. There is also no room for directional microphones, which means that noisy environments may be more difficult. When cosmetics are the driving force and the ear canal is not large enough for an IIC, for many people a CIC is the perfect solution.
